First Place - "Afghan Alley" by Lee Albion

Judge Comment: The overall impact of the piece was one of effortless grace-in execution, palette, composition and control.  Breathtaking and very atmospheric.

Second Place - "Mexican Pomegranates" by Arline Thompson

Judge Comment: A powerful study in contrast and texture, perfect distillation of elements and obvious mastery of the medium.

Third Place -  "Plaka" by Robert Montgomery

Judge Comment: I was very charmed by the detail and controlled spontaneity of this piece. The artist's second piece in the show was equally as impressive.

Judge Comment:
A timeless little piece! Excellent balance of spontaneity and control. Lovely movement and vitality to brush to brushstrokes..
Judge Comment:
Enjoyed layered effect of colored pencil underdrawing and transparency of overlapping pigments. Dynamic juxtaposition of organic and geometric elements..
Judge Comment:
Sensuous application, delicate palette and beautiful presentation (frame choice, etc).
Judge Comment:
Works by this artist were so refreshing! Loved seeing evidence of the artist's process - underdrawing left intact. Artist truly celebrates  lightness and transparency of the medium.
Judge Comment:
Very elegant, brushstrokes with the power of calligraphy!  Second piece in the show, also very striking.
Judge Comment:
Simple but powerful composition and execution.  Graphic impact accentuated by presentation choices (frames).
