This course will cover basic drawing techniques with the still life. Students will learn contour line, the tonal scale and composition. Learn historical drawing techniques vine charcoal, graphite, brush and ink. This class will survey these techniques and provide a foundation for students wishing to advance to Intermediate / Advanced Drawing and Painting Courses. Hard vine charcoal sticks and a 18” X 24” drawing pad (70-90 lb. press) are required for the first class.

Learn to draw and paint people. Explore composition, anatomy, color and achieving a likeness. Develop a personal style of expression in charcoal, oil or acrylics. All levels are welcome. Instructor is an established artist who has taught painting and drawing for more than 40 years. Bring to the first class supplies that you desire to use, such as sketchpad, pencils, drawing supplies and/or paints.

From the creatively challenged to the Master of their craft, this class is open to all that are interested in painting with acrylics and oils. Beginners will learn the fundamentals of using acrylics and oils, intermediates will work on their existing skills and be encouraged to take on greater challenges in painting. Advanced students will focus on perfecting their style and quality of work. Bring in your own subject to work on or use the still life created for you by the instructor. Each student is responsible for his or her own supplies although a list for beginners can be supplied by the instructor upon request.

Beginning January
Local wedding and sports photographer Rich Bahret will open up the world of photography to you as he presents an introduction to digital photography, teaching you how to use your own camera and make amazing images. Basic camera operation including principles of shutter speed, aperture, metering and lighting will be covered. The class will include hands-on photographing of people, places and things from the first class. Bring your digital camera and instruction booklet.
Rich began shooting in 1991, specializing in weddings, families, commercial and fashion. He owns and operates People, Places and Things Photography (www.PPTPhoto.net).
Cartooning and Drawing

The basic Cartooning and Drawing Class is an hour and a half long and focuses on rudimentary skills such as sketching, developing creativity, figure drawing, learning how to create proper perspective, charcoal pencil and inking techniques, and more. Students focus on what they like to draw, learning techniques and concepts that help them to refine and improve their skills while learning about different artists and art genres. Each student works at their own level.
