The Beach Art Center is a non-profit visual arts organization offering studio classes in many art media for adults and youth, exhibitions of the works of area artists and art related special events and receptions.

Bob Gray Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony 

Friday, January 13, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

 

The Beach Art Center kicked off the New Year with the traditional Bob Gray Welcome Back Members’ Show, opening with a reception and Awards Ceremony on Friday, January 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  The show will run through Friday, February 10, 2012.   A variety of art media from the members of the BAC is featured. 

The judge for the show was Susan Rollins Gehring, painter, printmaker, President of the Professional Association of Visual Artists and Past President of the Dunedin Fine Art Center.

Cash and Ribbons, $100, $75, $50, $35, Six Honorable Mentions.

Opening Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony

Friday, February 17, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Those who are currently enrolled in a class at the Center or have been in the past year are eligible to enter.  Bring in your work February 14 and 15 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  $20 Entry and Judging Fee allows students to show two works.  Faculty members may enter two works without a fee.  Ribbons will be presented to the best of exhibiting students.  Work must be no more than two years old.

Enrich Life with a Beach Art Center Art Class

Did you ever want to learn to paint in oil, acrylic or watercolor; or draw, dye fabric, carve wood, wheel throw or hand build in clay, make jewelry with metals and stones, or more?  Perhaps you have experience in art and want to develop your work to a higher state or try something new.  The Beach Art Center has classes in a variety of art media for different skill levels available now with much more offered as the Fall season progresses.  Programs are available in morning, afternoon and evening for adults and children.

This high profile fundraising event hosts approximately 200 people for an evening of delectables and libations, Roulette, Black Jack, Texas Hold ‘Em Poker and Horse Racing played with ‘funny money’. A silent auction of unique and desirable items of art, opportunity, travel and memorabilia compliments the action. Proceeds from this event support the Beach Art Center’s mission of visual art education and enrichment for the community through classes, exhibitions and programs for adults and children.

Elio Camacho

Still Life Oil and Acrylic Painting Workshop

February 23, 24 and 25, 2012

Tuition: $295

Elio Camacho will return to the Beach Art Center in February of 2012 for a still life workshop.  Mixing color with brush strokes, compositional studies, lighting and the discipline of changing light conditions will be explored.  This will likely be his last visit as Elio is cutting back his workshop schedule to focus on painting in the Seattle area.

 

Watercolor: Beyond the Ordinary

Intensive Three Day Workshop with Carol Frye

Tuition: $275

Combining traditional watercolor, Natural Mineral pigments and gesso opens up an exciting new approach to both traditional and abstract subject matter. Students of all levels will learn a unique layering method for building water media paintings with rich colors and strong textures.

Bonnie Jones grew up on the Golden Isles of Georgia. Her love of flowers as a little girl inspired her to paint them and she is known today for her floral and bird watercolor paintings.

Back by popular demand, Florida watercolorist and teacher Tom Jones returns to the Beach Art Center to share his techniques, experiences and a lifetime of painting in a fun, high energy three day workshop .
