Painting with Barbra Kuzin

Monday, 1-4 p.m.

Individual studies in acrylics and oil. Class includes various projects and assistance and guidance. Barbra has taught in the Pinellas County Adult Education Program and has been an instructor at BAC for ten years. Continuous class beginning Oct. 1 through June. Beginning through Intermediate; $60 members/$80 nonmembers, each 4 weeks.

Beginning Oils with Mary Spires

Tuesday, 9-Noon

This class is for the beginning student. Students will start with color mixing, color theory, brush techniques, and overall application of oil onto canvas. Specific projects designed to teach specific techniques will be taught. Students will receive a packet which has a line drawing, step by step written instructions, and a photo of the finished project. Continuous class January 9 - March. $60 members/$80 non-members each 4 weeks.

Independent Studies in all Media with Taylor Ikin

Tuesday, 1-4 p.m

This class is an independent studies class with Taylor inspiring, instructing and critiquing. Taylor is well-known for her instruction in the use of YUPO paper and that material is furnished free of charge. Taylor Ikin is a past president and current Board Member of The Florida Watercolor Society. Her current major project is The Hillsborough Collection, a one-woman museum traveling exhibition showcasing 43 landscape paintings on YUPO depicting conservation efforts in Hillsborough County. Intermediate-advanced; Sept. 4-July; $60 members/$80 nonmembers , each 4 weeks.

Beginning Watercolor with Mary Spires

For those who have some basics in watercolor but want to go further. Mary hosts a PBS painting program and does workshops in decorative painting throughout the country. Continuous class Jan. 10 - March; $60 members/$80 nonmembers each 4 weeks

Continuing Watercolor with Julie Messerschmidt

Wednesday, 9 - Noon

This class is designed for students with a basic working knowledge of watercolor techniques. The instructor will work with each student stressing composition and design and encouraging them to develop their own style. Class time will consist of demonstrations, painting time and critique. Continuous class Sept. 5 - July; $60 members/$80 nonmembers each 4 weeks.

Intermediate and Advanced Oils with Larry and Judy Pumfrey

Wednesday, 1-4 p.m.

Larry's forte is landscapes while Judy's is portraiture. They get together to give students individual instruction and assist them to develop their own unique expression. Class consists of a teaching and lecture session, painting time and critique of work. Continuous class starting Jan. 10-April. $60 members/$80 nonmembers, each 4 weeks.

Pottery with Jane Erickson: Beginner - Advanced

Wednesday, 6-9 p.m.

Jane will assist students in exploring their choice of hand building or wheel throwing. Students will receive individual attention and oversight while they learn to use the wheel, glazes, the extruder and slab-roller. Jane is a graduate of San Francisco State University and has taught pottery for over 30 years. Continuous class Jan. 10 - April; $60 members/$80 nonmembers each 4 weeks; materials fee covers clay, firing and glazing, $20.

Pottery with Jane Erickson, Beginner - Advanced

Sumi-e or the Suiboku method of using black ink, water and color with Hiroko Borish

Thursday, 1-4 pm.

Learn all the techniques of oriental brush painting. Although familiar with both western and oriental techniques, Hiroko's beautiful paintings primarily reflect her oriental background. Continuous class Sept. 6 through July; $60 members/$80 nonmembers, each 4 weeks.

Drawing with Doug Land

Friday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Draw with local professional artist and instructor Douglas Land. Designed for beginning or active artists, each class will have instruction, handouts, drawing, review of materials and techniques, and discussion. Materials for the first class are a pencil, paper and eraser of choice. Fee is $45.00 per session.
