Beach Art Center
Indian Rocks Beach
For Everyone Wishing to Experience, Support, and Promote an Appreciation of Quality Visual Art
Show Entry Requirements
All exhibitors are urged to familiarize themselves with these exhibition rules and procedures. Please keep this on hand and refer to it prior to entering a show. These guidelines are compatible with those of all major art organizations and are a guideline for entering both our shows and the shows of other organizations. These rules will benefit both the serious professional and those who paint and exhibit for pleasure.
Eligibility
Only members in good standing (annual dues are current) are eligible to exhibit, unless the show is an 'open' competition.
Framing
Entries must be properly framed with wire for hanging (no sawtooth hangers or other contrivances) and completely ready for display. All paintings up to 28" x 36" may use glass. Larger paintings require Plexiglas. Frames must be simple in design. "Gallery wrap" is accepted if the subject matter continues around the edges in the same quality and presentation as the front of the canvas.
Matting
Only white or off-white mats may be used. A colored liner is permissible. Mats must be free of dust, dirt and small hairs or bugs.
Originality
Each entry must be original work. Copies of photographs from magazines and copies of other artist's works may not be entered into competitions. (Some latitude may be allowed in a student show if credit is given to the original artist or resource.) Paintings done in class or workshop are not eligible except in a student show.
New Works
Any art work entered into a competition must not be entered again into any competition. All work should have been completed within the last two years.
Show Fees
All exhibiting artists must fill out an entry blank and pay the show fee at the time of entry. A sale price must be indicated on the exhibit card.
Withdrawl
No work shall be taken from the exhibit until the date for pickup. Any exceptions must be approved by the Show Chairman or the Executive Director and a waiver signed. Noncompliance can cause disqualification of the artist from future exhibits. In the event of a sale, where the piece purchased is not an award winner, purchaser may remove his piece with the permission of the Show Chairperson or the Executive Director. If a winning piece sells, a 'sold' sign will be posted and the purchaser will be asked to leave the piece until the show ends.
Pickup
It is necessary to pick up work promptly on the specified date and time or arrange for someone else to do so. Due to a lack of storage we are not able to store paintings.
Sales
The purchaser will make out a check to the exhibiting artist for the sale price. The art center will forward this to the artist who will then return a 20% donation to the art center. The exhibiting artist is responsible for paying the tax on the sale to the state of Florida.
Reproduction
Unless specifically noted, the Beach Art Center shall have permission to photograph and reproduce, for publicity purposes and publication in our web page only, any or all works of art placed on exhibition.
Responsibility
All entries will be handled with the greatest care. The Beach Art Center is not responsible for loss or damage by any cause and all entries are submitted and received subject to this condition.
