"ART ON THE ROCKS"
A Date with Decoupage (Coasters)
Learn an alternate form of decoupage that does not involve using Modge Podge or other glue products to make these beautiful wood coasters. This decoupage project will adhere the design to the wood using plastic wrap and a craft iron. Once set we will seal the design with a protective sealer. These coasters are designed more for cold to warm drinks. Alternatives will be given for those who would like for the coaster to also be heat resistant. Each of the coaster will be backed with cork to protect the surface underneath.
Each guest will make a total of 8 coasters. You can mix and match to create a set or create 8 unique designs. Please see the pictures for examples of designs to choose from. If you don't see something you like, please contact me as I may have it in my collection. This is a fun and creative decoupage technique that you will find yourself wanting to do over and over. Plus, the coasters make a great gift!
Note: Students will be using a craft iron i.e. Circuit Mini Press or similar small non-steam iron to adhere the design to the wood.
