"ART ON THE ROCKS"
Paint Pouring Patterns

In this introduction to acrylic paint pouring, we will explore some of the many patterns that can be achieved with this versatile and freeing medium. Mixing and supplies used will be discussed for those that want to continue pouring on their own. Demonstrations using the same combinations of paint colors, but utilizing different techniques, can result in completely different outcomes. We will discuss: puddle, clean, dirty, flip cup, open cup, tree ring, string pull, dutch, swipes, smash, & wave pours, as well as pouring over objects.

Each student will make 2 - 8”x8” or 8”x10” canvas paintings in their choice of techniques & colors. Paint pouring can be messy so wear old clothes &/or bring a smock. Also bring 2 sturdy boxes to accommodate your completed work, so you can take it home that day to dry!

Carol Klovekorn

Carol P. Klovekorn appreciates all of the color nature has to offer. Her first art love was watercolor botanical illustrations classically used for science. Drawing since childhood and visiting museums around the world inspires her paintings. Awed by simple beauty in a single flower, fall leaves, and especially beach waves, she often utilizes negative space to highlight and focus on her subject. She aims to find interesting shapes to create design and invoke a sense of calm and wonder in the world around us.
