Encaustic painting is the process of painting with hot pigmented beeswax.
This technique is ancient, but has become increasingly popular with modern artists of today. Come delve into the versatility of this fascinating medium that invites you to experiment! Participants will learn about encaustic history, safety, surfaces, and fusing. In this comprehensive 2-day workshop we will be exploring a variety of techniques such as incising, layering, pigment sticks, mark-making, mixed media collage, mono-printing, and incorporating photos. All skill levels welcome!
Students will leave with multiple pieces of art utilizing a variety of techniques that we will be experimenting with.

****** COVID-19 POLICY FOR IN-HOUSE WORKSHOPS ******
We are following all CDC guidelines and safety protocols to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for all who enter the BAC. We will be practicing social distancing by limiting class size and separating class chairs 6' apart.
All staff, volunteers and students will be required to wear a face covering or mask that covers your nose and mouth. Sick and vulnerable persons should not enter the building. No-touch temperature will be taken. All who enter must register upon entry. Hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout BAC.
Shelley Jean is an Arts Educator with over 30 years experience. She currently teaches at the Maitland Art Museum, Art Studios of Cocoa Beach as well as her home Studio, Secret Place Studio.
She is the President of the Florida Chapter of International Encaustic Artists and a Demo Artist for R&F Paints.
