FIRED UP FOR POTTERY
With Karen VanVyve
You have always wanted to try pottery class, so try it now!
About every six weeks a new project will be introduced to students allowing them to build their pottery skills.
You will create bowls, cups, boxes, animal sculptures, lidded vessels and more.
Students will be introduced to basic hand building techniques, which include pinch pot, slabs, coils, extruding and introduction to the pottery wheel. Students will learn different techniques on each project to build basic fundamental skills.
Students will explore texture and color and use a variety of glaze’s on their work. Students will have the opportunity to learn alternative decorating processes to make their work unique.
We will explore different techniques through classroom demonstrations, which students can use to personalize their projects.

After years of creating art and some years teaching others how to make it, I have become aware that so much of the joy of what I do is about the connections made with other people and art. For me expression in creativity started with sewing at an early age and spread into other genres such as painting, jewelry making and pottery.
