An Optimistic Future for the Beach Art Center
We are very excited and grateful for a recent donation from the City of Indian Rocks Beach, a portion of which will become the cornerstone of our fundraising campaign to raise money for building repairs to the Beach Art Center over the coming years. These improvements will help insure that the Beach Art Center will continue to serve the community for many years – regardless of the weather!
A recent article which was carried in local papers could be construed to mean that the Beach Art Center is in dire economic straits and risks having to close its doors. A year ago, the future of the Beach Art Center was indeed at risk. Through a number of changes implemented earlier this year along with the work of our members and volunteers and many kind donations, we are in a much better place and we are now VERY optimistic about our future.
Our building underwent a wonderful exterior renovation this summer, during which classes and kids camp flourished, our membership has grown, and we have more classes this autumn than in many, many years. Our gift shop has grown and is thriving, and our gallery openings have continued to draw crowds, even in the slow summer season. The Beach Art Center has a complete complement of classes coming up for the busy winter season - including many guest artists.
Everyone knows that art isn’t profitable and keeping a place like ours up and running can be tough. Through the dedication of our members and the community, however, we are confident in our future. That being said, the capital campaign we are embarking on is to cover expensive improvements that will help insure our building’s security in the future. More information will be coming forward regarding this campaign. In the meantime, you need to know that we are doing well and are OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
We look forward to seeing you at the Beach Art Center!
