March 2020 News - COVID-19 Update
Updated: Oct 30
The White House has just extended its recommendations on Social Distancing to April 30th.
While this is a fluid situation with changes taking place daily, the Beach Art Center Board Executive Committee has decided that for your safety and the safety of our membership, the Beach Art Center will remain CLOSED through April 30, 2020. We will keep you informed as we monitor the situation and adjust as new information is provided by State and National Health Officials. With that news…. I invite you to… Breath…. take a minute or two and just breath… nice deep breaths …don’t hold your breath. Just breath and think of what you find beautiful and relaxing…. And enjoy! As a Recreation Therapist I know from experience that what we do in our leisure time makes us happy, challenging us mentally and physically and improves our quality of life. Research shows that engaging in leisure lowers stress, improves mood and overall health. During these challenging times the pursuit of healthy leisure is critical... so remember to take time to play everyday! We want to help you do just that.
While the doors of the Beach Art Center are closed, your creative spirit will help us all remain strong! The Board, Staff and Volunteers are working hard to keep the center up and running… just in a different way… virtually. During this period of closure, many operating expenses go on, if you would like to help us STAY STRONG and continue our mission, you can do so by donating via check, mailed to 1515 Bay Palm Blvd, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785, or donate online via PayPal.
While closed we are working remotely to help you stay involved in what you love to do… to stay engaged in the creative arts! Many instructors are reaching out to their students via emails, Facebook, YouTube, ZOOM and other on-line venues to offer support, playful challenges, and even face-to-face...live on-line classes! If you’re like me… you’ve seen an amazing increase in the number of people and programs connecting through technology; people everywhere are connecting through programs like WhatsApp, Facebook live and ZOOM. We have a team working to help the BAC Instructors offer on-line classes. I invite you connect with us through email, Facebook and our website to see what is happening.
Stay safe and remember to play and create!
