COLD WAX AND OIL PAINTS WORKSHOP
Wendy Davis
Saturday, February 19
Cold wax and oil paint combined, textured, embedded and layered can create some interesting and fun works of art. Without the use of heat or odorous oil solvents, you can get an encaustic look.
Come experiment and learn how to mix wax and oil paint and create layers by scraping, stamping, embedding papers and or objects on to oil paper or wood substrates. Come and try it out!
You may bring your own papers (tissues, napkins, prints) and findings, also any mark making tools you may have. I will supply the rest. Bring an aluminum baking sheet to carry your finished project home as it might not completely dry by the end of class.

My collection of work employs the use of acrylic paints and other texture-producing media. I like to experiment with textures, color, design, findings, and depicting a thought or feeling in my work. I use paint, matte and gel mediums, paste and papers to depict different aspects of nature and to encourage further thought.
I studied art and design at St. Petersburg College, attended workshops at Dunedin Fine Art Center, as well as Costa Rica, Santa Fe, and San Antonio, Tx. My work has been displayed in shows at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, The Witte Museum in San Antonio, and the Leepa Rattner Museum. I belong to the Creative Artists’ Guild, Tarpon Springs Art Association, and the Artful Souls Artists group. I work from home as well as have a studio (#6) at Stirling Art Studios and Gallery in Dunedin, FL.
