Meet your Instructor...

Cathy Heeter

I am an artist and a teacher. Before I even started school, I spent my days making art, playing school and sewing with my Grandmother. Eventually I taught elementary school and when not teaching I used my love of art and sewing to create home décor. Somewhere along the line I began doing professional wall stenciling and interior design consulting.

Shift gears, I later became interested in corporate training and ‘voila’ I’m teaching again. This time teaching adults communication skills and personal growth. I eventually retired from Cook Nuclear Plant in Michigan where I spent my days facilitating process improvement.

In retirement, I have continued to make art and teach both in my home state of Indiana and also in Florida, where I spend my winters. I have gravitated to working mostly with fiber although I take every opportunity to try new art techniques. I have exhibited my work in galleries and museums in several states and have pieces in private collections. I am happiest when I am either learning something new or teaching others.
