Explore the creative side of clay through handbuilding techniques in this beginner-friendly 4-week series.
Using slab rollers and handbuilding tools, students will create functional and decorative pottery pieces such as bowls, plates, and mugs.
Students will learn:
Slab-building techniques
Texture and surface design
Construction methods
Glazing and finishing basics
What to Bring:
Apron or towel
Clothes that can get messy
Perfect for beginners looking for a relaxed and creative pottery experience without using the wheel. Small class sizes allow for personalized instruction and a welcoming studio experience for beginners.

Meet your Instructor
Christina Lorenzen
A potter and ceramics instructor with over 35 years of experience, I earned my teaching degree in 1989 and have since taught art at both the elementary and middle school levels. In addition to classroom teaching, I have led watercolor painting classes at Gibson Tech. Most recently, I have been teaching clay camps at the Spiva Center for the Arts since last August.
