WORKSHOP
Let's Paint! Impressionist Poppy Field in Oil
Chrissy Samson
Beginner, All Levels
$99
June 7, 2026
1:00 - 4:00 PM
In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, students will create a beautiful impressionist-style poppy field inspired by the works of Claude Monet. Using a step-by-step approach, we will begin with a simple underpainting to establish composition, then transition into oil paints to bring the landscape to life with expressive brushwork and vibrant color. We’ll also explore the optional use of a palette knife to add texture and interest to areas of the painting.
No prior experience with oil painting is required. This class focuses on suggestion rather than detail, allowing students to explore light, color, and movement in a supportive, stress-free environment. Each participant will complete a finished painting during the 3-hour workshop.
All instruction is guided and approachable, with encouragement to create your own interpretation of the scene rather than a strict copy. This workshop is perfect for beginners and anyone looking to loosen up their painting style.
All materials are provided. Students will leave with a completed oil painting and a greater sense of confidence working in oils.
All levels, Ages 13+ with parental supervision.
Location: Beach Art Center: 1515 Bay Palm Blvd Indian Rocks Beach
