Stop relying on Auto mode and start taking control of your camera.


This beginner-friendly 6 week class will help you understand the essential settings and features of your DSLR or mirrorless camera so you can take sharper, more confident photos in a variety of situations. You’ll learn how your camera works, how to adjust your settings for different lighting conditions, and how to photograph subjects such as people, landscapes, travel, nature, and everyday moments.


The class will also introduce basic photo editing and offer practical tips for sharing your images on Facebook, Instagram, and through print services.


What You'll Learn

  • Become familiar with your camera's buttons, menus, lenses, and essential features.

  • Understand the differences between Auto, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual shooting modes.

  • Learn how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO work together to create the perfect exposure.

  • Master autofocus settings and techniques for capturing sharp, well-focused images.

  • Adjust camera settings to confidently photograph in bright sunlight, shade, indoor lighting, and low-light conditions.

  • Improve your composition using simple techniques to create more visually compelling photographs.

  • Practice photographing a variety of subjects, including people, landscapes, nature, travel, and everyday scenes.

  • Learn basic photo editing techniques, including cropping, color correction, and exposure adjustments.

  • Discover the best ways to organize, share, and print your photos for social media and personal projects.


What to Bring

Please bring your DSLR or mirrorless camera, a fully charged battery, your camera manual, and any lenses you regularly use.


Please Note:

  1. This class is designed for cameras with interchangeable lenses. It is not intended for cell phone cameras or bridge cameras.

  2. 15+ (under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian & if the adult wishes to participate they must also register)

Meet your Instructor

Robert Rostick

Robert founded theROSTICKgroup Commercial Photography and Digital Photography Training with a team of professional photographers to encourage a love for his craft. His vision is to help others master the technical aspects of photography so that they can more easily share their creative vision with the world.

Robert received his education at the Art Institute of Atlanta in photography and graphic design. He has been a well-received workshop facilitator and popular lecturer for a variety of organizations. Robert currently serves as the Education Director of the Tampa Bay Camera Club.

Parking:

Parking is available in front of the building, at Kolb Park across the street, and in the grassy area behind our building.  Students may also park in the lot between our building and the Indian Rocks Beach Library even though signs say

"City Hall Parking Only."

​

Please do not park in the paved spaces behind our building that are reserved for "City Vehicles Only."
