Join us for a fun and creative 3-hour painting workshop designed for beginners, intermediate, and advanced artists alike. Whether you're new to painting or looking to try something new, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore texture and expressive techniques.
We’ll begin with an acrylic underpainting of an adorable little chickadee, using step-by-step instruction to guide you through the process. Don’t worry about drawing skills—the chickadee will be pre-sketched for you, so you can focus on painting and learning in a fun, welcoming environment.
Once the underpainting is complete, we’ll switch gears to oil impasto techniques (using thick paint and palette knives to create beautiful, textured feathers and details). You’ll learn about:
Impasto medium and how it works with oil paint
Palette knife techniques for creating texture and movement
Application methods to build dimensional feathers and highlights
How to combine acrylic underpainting with oil impasto for dynamic results
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own unique interpretation of a chickadee, along with new skills and confidence in using palette knives, impasto medium, and textured painting techniques.
All materials are provided in registration.
Ages 13+ (under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If the adult wishes to participate they must also register)
