We offer classes for just about everybody. From beginner to advanced, you'll find a class that's right for you. Take a class every week or just now and again. Drawing, oil, watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, Plein Air, and special Limited Series Classes.
Get your hands dirty with a fun and interactive Pottery Class. Our pottery studio is the gem of the BAC and offers wheel-thrown and hand-built lessons. From clay to firing, we have everything you need.

Workshops provide students the ability to learn a new skill, take their art to the next level, or try something completely different. Award-winning local and international guest instructors focus on the process, rather than the end result of art. Spaces are limited, so it’s best to register early!

In this two-day workshop, Margaret Bayalis will share her techniques for accentuating lighting effects and adding vibrant color to create luminous oil or acrylic paintings. This workshop is designed to benefit all levels from beginners to experienced painters.
BEGINNERS PALETTE KNIFE WORKSHOP
Saturday, January 25th, 2020
In our "Beginners Pallette Knife" Workshop students will create a painting using a pallette knife. Initial color is roughed in with brushes then the pallette knife works the magic of creating an abstract impressionistic painting.
Student can work from their own photos, or from sample of art supplied by instructor. Class is open to teens and adults.
We will break for lunch so bring your own lunch.

WATERCOLOR FROM THE HEART

In this wonderful 2-Day Workshop, Carol Carter will demonstrate her technique of wet, loose watercolor.
Each day begins with a uniquely tailored lesson to inspire.
She will discuss color, water, design, and value.
The brilliance of color and the purity of paint application will be emphasized. She will talk about juxtaposing colors to make them vibrate. Imagery, content, and point-of-view are a focus. The afternoon will be devoted to individual instruction and group critique.
Classes are informal and discussions are lively and entertaining. She will talk about marketing and using social media to build your career. Questions, curiosity and camaraderie are a must!
Carter strives to build an atmosphere of learning by support, encouragement, permission to take a risk, and answering all questions.
PAINTING ALLA PRIMA STYLE

A CONTEMPORARY APPROACH IN WATERCOLOR

Learn how to create a contemporary and dynamic quality in your watercolor paintings through simplification of the composition and the addition of linear elements. Using basic materials and a straightforward method, emphasis will be placed on creating interesting shapes and strong values.
PLEIN AIRE COLOR BOOTCAMP

March 28th & 29th, 2020
Plein Aire Painting with an emphasis on Color with Key West Artist, John Clayton.
Each day John Clayton will demonstrate using a palette knife. He will simplify the scene to flat masses and develop values and exciting color notes. Students will learn how to mix key colors, in an excessive creative way. We will study the light key by painting from life through the comparing of color notes.
OPEN STUDIO FOR ALL MEDIA
We encourage artists and aspiring artists to visit the Beach Art Center during designated times for open studio. This is a great time to meet and learn from each other, and to be inspired by other creatives. Beach Art Center is happy to provide studio space to support our mission of engaging artists. Bring your own table cover and supplies.

Regular Studio hours are
Thursdays and Fridays 1-4pm.
Pottery Studio hours are Wednesdays 9am-12pm.
*Pottery Open Studio is only available to those currently enrolled in a Pottery Class.
Cancellation & Transfer Policy
for Classes and Workshops:
All fees associated with classes and workshops are non-refundable. In the event a registrant needs to change or cancel their registration, the registrant should contact the Beach Art Center as far in advance as possible. Any agreement to change, cancel or transfer a registration after the class/workshop date has taken place is made at the sole discretion of the instructor.
Beach Art Center reserves the right to cancel classes or workshops if minimums are not met or for any other reason relevant to business needs. In the event of a cancellation initiated by Beach Art Center, the registrant will have the option to transfer to an available class or workshop, or to receive a full refund.
Beach Art Center does not hold credits on account for future use.
Liability & Photo Release:
Registration constitutes agreement to policies, waivers and releases published in the registration system. These include a waiver of liability and release of permission to take and use photos during classes.
The Beach Art Center does not allow firearms in the building.
Attendance requires advance registration and prepayment.
Parents are welcome to visit but may not attend classes unless registered.
The Beach Art Center does not store student art and reserves the right to dispose of items left by students.
